Sleep Soft Pipke

On Monday, September 14, 2009 Pipke died in my arms at exact 9:10 AM local time after a struggle of more than three weeks.
Together with her we fought ... the last week ... even day and night, but she has lost her very last battle.
She was such a brave fighter.
Sleep soft little darling ... we leave your empty nest ... there ... where you always wanted to be:
near our back door ... close to us!
We will nurture this place and everything that does remind us to YOU.

You are no longer here now, but you will always stay in our heart and in our thoughts.
You were our “little sunshine” you gave us the “brightest” light in our life!
You were and will always be the most precious little creature in my life and the best thing that could ever happen to me.

I know one thing: the last I will be thinking of  -  the last name I will mumble when I leave this earth will be:

May 25, 1995 - September 14, 2009

This picture was taken on August 6, 2009
only five days before she became ill for the very last time.

  1. Fran, I am so very, very sorry. :(

I'll never forget the post you wrote for my blog about Pipke.

    I'm thinking about you.

  2. I am so sorry Fran.

It's never easy to say goodbye even when you know the end is near. Think on the many years of joy little Pipke has given you.

And I'm thinking of you also, along with Jen, and everyone who knows what Pipke meant to you.

  3. Thanks Jen, thanks Jeannie.
It comforts us that Pipke also touched your hearts.
She was a real hearts conquerer!

Probably there are people who can't understand that we can have so much grief for the dead of a duck. I do understand that very well, and I don't blame them, but you must have known Pipke!
She was not an "ordinary duck"... she was “unique”.
There will never be an other duck like her, she was special.
She was like a child for us.

  4. Im so sorry Fran i keep many animals and i cry my eyes out when any pass away i know what a close bond you can grow with an animal, I was in tears reading this blog thank you so much for telling us the storry of this very special duck.

  5. I also forgot to say that you can see how much she loved you and you did the right thing

  6. Welcome to my blog geckodelta, and thanks for adding you as follower to my blog.
I'm still working on her full story, you don't yet know everything. There are going to follow many surprises.
I do hope you will call in from time to time!
Thanks for your kind comment, it comforts me to know that she also touches your heart.
